The most large-scale farming ‘Agricultural Week’ exhibition started its work in Sibexpocentre
On October 23 the ceremonial opening of the large-scale ‘Agricultural Week’ exhibition took place. The event is placed in two pavilions and on the open area of Sibexpocentre. Here are the largest organisations of production sector and food industry and the best regional representations. Undoubtedly, all of them have something to offer, since each of them represents their own unique products.
Exhibitors offer a wide range of meat products, fish, nuts, honey, oriental sweets, seasonings, confectionery, mushrooms, canned food products, dairy products, vegetables and many other things. At the exhibition there is a festive atmosphere created by the concert programme, cheerful competitions and tasting of delicious dishes.
Anatoly Prokopyev, Deputy Governor of Irkutsk Region, Head of the Administration of Ust-Ordyn Buryat Autonomous District made a welcome speech at the opening ceremony:
Agricultural work is important. We try to do everything possible to increase the level of support of our agricultural producers. The exhibition is presented by very large number of the enterprises of agricultural production and school institutions. Today there are really a lot of products, and the exhibition gives an opportunity not only to try, but also to buy the pleasant goods. The event always provides an opportunity for communication and exchange of experience, besides there is someone to take an example from – we have many production leaders. And I think that the business programme which will be submitted all these days will give a chance of dialogue and work out ways for the further development of our agricultural production.
Then Kuzma Aldarov, Deputy Chairman of the Legislative Assembly of Irkutsk Region addressed:
I can say that today we continue to develop small and medium businesses, as well as the social sphere of the village. I want to assure that the deputy corps will continue the positive trends in agriculture and will try to assist in further development. I want to wish you all a pleasant and useful communication. Happy holiday to all of you - Happy Agricultural Worker Day!
Further with welcome word Ilya Sumarokov, Minister of Agriculture of Irkutsk Region acted:
Dear friends, I am glad to welcome you at the largest, most significant agricultural exhibition of the region – ‘Agricultural Week’ exhibition. You make every effort, knowledge and experience in order the agrarian sector to be developed. Thanks to rural workers for your work for the benefit of Irkutsk Region! I want to tell that the agroindustrial complex develops systematically and steadily moves forward. On production of gross output we enter the top thirty regions of Russia, and in terms of grain crops for several years Irkutsk Region takes the leading positions in Siberian Federal District. I wish all success and prosperity. We are bound to be successful!
The welcoming speech was made by Roman Gabov, Chairman of the Committee on the Legislation on Environmental Management, Ecology and Agriculture:
At this large exhibition we see how many products are presented in our Irkutsk Region, how big and rich our region is. We know that all this is given not by easy work, but having attended the exhibition, we understand that we move in the right direction. For these years a lot of things are made to feed our residents with tasty, useful, environmentally friendly production. Therefore I wish to be not ready to rest with what has already been achieved, to keep everything that we have, and even to increase it.
Andrei Shapovalov, General Director of Sibexpocentre OJSC declared the exhibition open:
On this day, I would like to thank everyone who worked with us on this exhibition. Many thanks to those who exhibit the production today and prepare the business programme for all the days of the exhibition. Many thanks to Ilya Sumarokov for the fact that he personally takes the lead for the organising committee not for the first year, and the exhibition turns out remarkable. On behalf of Sibexpocentre, I congratulate everyone on their professional holiday and declare the exhibition open!
After the opening ceremony, representatives of the Ministry were met by exhibitors. Each company showed its best products, guests were treated with a loaf, presented with gifts, sang, played the accordion, talked about the achievements and plans for the future, showed statistics of their production, shared vivid impressions and were congratulated on their professional holiday. Each meeting was a bright event and was accompanied by a hospitable welcome.
The business programme of the exhibition includes very diverse round tables, meetings, seminars and lectures. On the opening day, a round table was held on the development of commercial aquaculture (commercial fish farming) in Irkutsk Region, which was held by the Ministry of Agriculture of Irkutsk Region. The moderators presented problematic issues, clarified the requirements of the aquaculture industry for those who are engaged in fish farming or those one who are only going to develop in this direction. Speakers noted what problems may arise in the industry and evaluated the financing phase.
One of the key events of the business programme became another round table – the ‘State and Development of Meat Animal Husbandry.’ Representatives of the Ministry told about advanced technologies in the development of cattle breeding, presented Aginsk meat breed of sheep, provided statistics on the development of livestock breeding, and also told about plans and tasks for the coming years. Speakers shared victories in cultivation of meat breeds on the territory of the Nukuty, Usolye, Tulun and Osa districts. Representatives told that to date the volume of meat production of all types for 9 months makes 79.1%, which indicates that the Ministry assists in promoting livestock development.
Besides the business programme on the scenic platform of exhibition complex the fourth ‘Baikal Pelmeni’ festival was held by the Komsomolskaya Pravda newspaper together with Sibexpocentre. Guests were pleased with children's dancing collectives and the chefs who skillfully prepared tasty dishes. At the competition there was traditional tasting of pelmeni from local producers, and the winners in different nominations were defined. It could not do without the championship on high-speed eating of pelmeni. Already for the third time Alexander Bashlykov became the winner.
All residents of the city and surrounding areas will manage to visit the exhibition till October 26, it will be open from 10 to 18 o'clock. You are waited by the bright concert programme, interesting exposition stands and a large number of fresh and natural production.
