Today there is a lot of information on how to be beautiful and well-groomed. The industry develops promptly, and at one point there is a question: how to understand all the diversity of offered means and opportunities? On April 5-8 in Sibexpocentre Exhibition Complex the ‘Industry of Beauty’ exhibition will take place where it will be possible to ask personally questions to the titled masters, to visit various master classes, to get advice of highly qualified specialists and to choose the suitable procedures and cosmetic treatment.

 

On March 28-31 the 21st international tourist Baikaltour exhibition was held in Sibexpocentre Exhibition Complex. The event which traditionally acquaints residents of Irkutsk with the opportunities of regional tourism and rest and with offers of federal and international travel industry, allowed to plunge into the fascinating world of travel, to get a set of impressions and useful knowledge, to make new discoveries.

More than 100 participants from China, Korea, Mongolia, Turkey, Krasnoyarsk, Altai Teritory, Primorsk Territory, Novosibirsk Region, the Republic of Buryatia presented their tourist facilities and health programmes. Municipalities of Irkutsk Region told about their natural resources and sights, museums, ethno-parks, presented various tourist routes, opportunities for business, industrial and event tourism.

Foreign participants of the exhibition presented their consolidated stands. So, within the exposition of the Representative Office of the Korea Tourism Organization in Vladivostok, more than 15 South Korean medical institutions and travel companies told about the medical and health tourism of Korea, showed interesting master classes, and also consulted the guests of Baikaltour-2018 on various issues.

The delegation of 10 Mongolian tourist companies took part in the work of the stand of the Department of Tourism of Ulaanbaatar. They presented traditional horse-riding tourism, boat and motor boat trips, walking tourism, fishing, as well as rich with national traditions event tourism. In addition, during all the days there were performances of the Mongolian creative team at the stand. Artists in colourful suits pleased the guests of the event with rich deep sounds of folk instruments, unique vocal performance, creating the atmosphere of peace and appeasement.

For the specialists of the industry the highly topical business programme was organised at Baikaltur-2018, within which there were round tables, training seminars, panel sessions and working meetings on the most relevant topics of the tourism industry. Representatives of tour operators, municipalities, guides received a lot of practical information about the latest innovations and requirements, learned about the new rules and regulations of execution of various professional documentation.

So, workers of the hospitality industry learned more about the introduction of the national system of qualifications in the territory of Irkutsk Region. During the round table ‘About Topical Issues of Ensuring Tourist Activities’ representatives of tour operators received detailed information about the operator's responsibility for violating the procedure of personal data management, learned about the safety instructions for passenger transportation by inland water transport, about all the nuances of compiling an antiterrorist security passport and many other things. 

The working meeting of participants of the international project on ‘Tea Road’ organised by Irkutsk Region Tourism Agency became one of the key events of the business programme. During the event representatives of Russia, China and Mongolia shared the experience gained over the past year and also discussed plans for future summer season.  

During the meeting Ekaterina Slivina, Head of Irkutsk Region Tourism Agency told that in 2017 the volume of tourist flows to Irkutsk Region has considerably increased, and not only of Russian tourists, but also foreign:

— The working meeting takes place in Irkutsk already for the second time. It is connected with the fact that our city is one of the key points on the Tea Road. It is necessary to tell that this fact actively attracts tourists from China. In 2017 Irkutsk Region was visited by 135,7 thousand Chinese tourists that makes more than 64% of the total number of foreign tourists. It is possible to note that the Russian-Chinese direction for our region is the most perspective. We see great opportunities in development of railway tourist routes because in the territory of the region there are unique objects, such as Circum-Baikal railroad. It is necessary to give proper respect to Russian Railways which will organise special trains for the Chinese tourists on the Tea Road.  

Besides, Ekaterina Slivina has emphasised that Mongolia traditionally occupies one of the leading places among foreign countries on attendance by residents of Irkutsk Region. According to Federal Migration Service in 2017 the Angara region was visited by more than 5000 residents of Mongolia. In December 2017 the opening of the new international Irkutsk - Ulaanbaatar train took place which is an important stage of tourist exchange between Irkutsk Region and Mongolia. At the end of the working meeting the Tourism Agency of Irkutsk Region and the Department of Tourism of Ulaanbaatar signed an agreement on cooperation in the field of tourism.

On March 30 a series of training seminars for tour guides took place. The events were devoted to the rules of visit of religious objects and sacred places, providing first aid treatment to tourists, basis of maintenance of instructors-conductors activities. Also, within the business programme, the topical issue of socially responsible tourism, examples and experience of implementing similar projects in Irkutsk Region were considered.  

During one of the central themes of the exhibition – ‘Irkutsk on Tea Road’ - in the second pavilion the wide tea exposition was presented. Guests of the event took part in the tea ceremony, tried unique types of tea, visited the Tea Museum and got acquainted with the exhibits telling about the history of tea and tea trade in Irkutsk.  

Also Baikaltour-2018 pleased visitors with interesting festivals, in which the national cultural centres of Irkutsk Region took part. The features of the national tea table became the subject of one of them - the Festival of gastronomic tourism. Participants told about their national cuisine, presented pies with various fillings, a lot of baking options, shared tea traditions, and those nationalities, where tea drinking is not the done thing, told about their drinks from roots, herbs, flowers and berries. After the bright presentation, the visitors of the event were able to taste the dishes and drinks.

For the first time within the Baikaltour-2018 exhibition the Festival of National Dance was held. Participants in traditional suits demonstrated a unique coloring peculiar to their territory. The uniqueness of the dance movements and musical accompaniment emphasized the spectacularity of the performances.

At the closing ceremony of the exhibition Ekaterina Slivina, Head of the Irkutsk Region Tourism Agency made a welcoming speech:

- I hope that the exhibition was very useful for you. We did our best to make it not only a platform for establishing business contacts, but also for bringing a lot of new knowledge. I want to express my special gratitude to our colleagues and friends from China, Mongolia, Turkey and Korea who found an opportunity to come to our country, supported our event and successfully presented themselves. I congratulate all on the successful exhibition and I want to wish all the best! Forward to the new tourist season! 

The exhibition ended with a drawing of valuable prizes and traditional summing up of the results of the best exhibitor competition. The Grand-prix of the exhibition was given to the East Siberian Railway - branch of the Russian Railways OJSC, which presented various recreation facilities at its stand: camp sites, hotels, cottage complexes located in Irkutsk Region and the Republic of Buryatia.

Russian Railways always back up initiatives in Irkutsk Region and over the years have been a participant of the Baikaltour exhibition. - Aleksandr Parshchikov, Deputy Chief of the Road on Interaction with Authorities said. - Today we observe growth of tourism in the region. And if last year we transported 30,000 Chinese tourists, then in this year - the indicator rose to 58,000 people. And we are going to gain pace. Special gratitude to the organisers of the exhibition, invite us more often!    

I would like to thank in return Russian Railways that they provided an opportunity of a promo tour by the Circum-Baikal Railway for participants of the exhibition — Ekaterina Slivina added - and it is also necessary to tell that at the end of last year we opened the Irkutsk - Ulaanbaatar through train that also has a direct impact on the development of tourism in our countries.  

Also the Grand Prix of the exhibition was presented to the Pilot Entertainment Centre. At the stand they presented 2 helicopters and at the closing ceremony the helicopter walk among visitors was competed.

The Gold Stars were given to: Irkutsk Region Tourism Agency, Ulan Bator Tourism Department, Korea Tourism Organization in Vladivostok, the Ministry of Culture of the Krasnoyarsk Territory, consolidated stand of the Republic of Buryatia, Main Directorate of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia in Irkutsk Region.

Silver Stars were awarded to: YEKTA Company, Baikal Visa Association, Zapovednoe Pribaikalye FSBI, the City of Svirsk municipal formation, Usolye district municipal formation, Zalarinsk district municipal formation, Information and Tourist Service of the city of Irkutsk, East-Siberian Aerogeodesic Enterprise OJSC, Oligovskaya Ryba Company.

The 21st Baikaltour exhibition completed its work, but preparations for the 2019 exhibition have already begun. We are waiting for participants with new ideas and suggestions. Until next time!
