In Sibexpocentre the 21st international ‘Baikaltour’ exhibition was opened

On March 28-31, 2018 in Sibexpocentre the 21st international tourist ‘Baikaltour’ exhibition will take place. The action is a significant event for the tourist industry of Irkutsk Region and an effective platform for business communication of specialists of the branch. Exactly here in anticipation of a tourist season it is possible to learn about the new directions and proposals of representatives of regional, federal and international tourist industry.

This year tourist objects and improving programmes will be presented by China, Korea, Mongolia, Turkey, Krasnoyarsk, Altai, Primorsk Territory, Novosibirsk Region, the Republic of Buryatia. More than 15 municipal units of Irkutsk Region will tell about the unique places of the region having huge tourist and economic potential.

The East Siberian Railway - branch of the Russian Railways OJSC will present at the stand the health care centres located in Irkutsk Region and the Republics of Buryatia, unique tours across the Circum-Baikal Railwayand also various recreation facilities: camp sites, hotels, cottage complexes. 

The highly topical business programme will help to create a clear idea of the relevant situation in the industry, will acquaint with the last innovations and trends, will give an opportunity to receive training and expand the competences, to find new partners and clients. For industry specialists the Tourism Agency of Irkutsk Region has prepared a number of events on the most pressing topics among which:

- ‘Event tourism in the Baikal region’ round table (March 28-29 from 10:00 till 11:30);

- The presentation of tourist routes – winners of the regional ‘The Best Tourist Route of Irkutsk Region’ competition (March 28 from 13:30 till 14:45);

- ‘Introduction of the national system of qualification in the hospitality industry in the territory of Irkutsk Region’ seminar (March 28 from 14:40 till 15:40);

- Baikal-Khubsugul round table (March 29 from 11:45 till 13:00);

- Working meeting of participants of the project on the ‘Tea Road’ — Russia, China, Mongolia (March 29 from 10:00 till 11:30).

On March 30 there will be a series of training seminars for tour guides. The events will be devoted to the rules of visiting of sacred places, first aid treatment to tourists, basis of maintenance of instructors-conductors activities and introduction of the professional standard. The presentation of the Pilgrimage tour project will become one more interesting event of this day. The tourist opportunities will be presented by the Ust-Orda ‘Tubden Darzhelin’ district datsan and ‘Shamanskaya Derevnya’ (Angarsk).  

It is not the first year that medical companies from the Republic of Korea present their services and programmes at the exhibition. At Baikaltour-2018, leading representatives of more than 15 South Korean medical institutions and travel companies will tell about the medical tourism of Korea and answer all the questions of interest.

In continuation of one of the central themes of the exhibition – ‘Irkutsk on the Tea Road’ - a wide tea exposition will be presented in the second pavilion. Guests of the event will be able to discover the tea traditions of different countries, take part in a tea ceremony, taste unique types of tea, purchase accessories and sweets.

In addition, Baikaltour-2018 will please visitors with interesting festivals. The Festival of National Dance will be held for the first time. National-cultural centres of Irkutsk Region will take part in it. By means of dance and national costume, they will demonstrate the unique charm of their territories.

The favorite by many people Festival of gastronomic tourism - this time will be called ‘Circumnavigation of the 10th Muse’. Guests are expected by the presentation of national dishes and tasting from the known Irkutsk restaurants.

The exhibition is organised by the Tourism Agency of Irkutsk Region together with SibExpoCentre with support of the Government of Irkutsk Region, Administration of the City of Irkutsk, the Committee on Tourism, Resort and Recreational, Restaurant and Hotel Activities at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Eastern Siberia, Partnership of Producers and Entrepreneurs Irkutsk Regional Association of Employers, the Siberian Baikal Association of Tourism.
